A promising new series, with a very original concept.

A Vampire's Promise  has a good plot and some encouraging fresh ideas for the future. The characters are well crafted and the world built is interesting, however the ending was unexpected in a sort of negative way.

Even though I enjoy the creative for this book, it took me a while to get on board with the story. I was unable to connect with the characters, and the huge cliffhanger at the end, took out some of my pleasure with the book.

Yes, I know that book two is already out, and I don't mind reading serials, but I believe that serials (book series that all ending are cliffhangers) should be warned upfront.

I think Ms. Smith has created a great world for her vampires and I quite enjoy that they are a bit mean. I have liked several secondary characters, and I could see some of them having a book of their own.

I would like to have known more about what "promise" means, because I believe the book hasn't answer much of my questions.

I will read book two, just not right away!  I want to know more about Rowan and Gabriel's history and I hope after understanding them better I will bond more with them.

If you enjoy paranormal romance with a sweet relationship, you should give this a try.
